Wedding Catch up; Rachel and Jake

I love my job.  I've discovered that just getting to watch two people be in love is pretty fun, and I feel priveleged to be included in the biggest confirmation of that love.

Definitely had a good time shooting these two crazy kids at the Wild Rose in Arlington.

The interesting little space and day, as well as the inspiration of many other amazing wedding photographers, encouraged me to begin changing up my editing process.  I think all photogs should switch things up every once in awhile, if even to only find that they were very happy doing what works.

Thanks for peepin!

The Day Job

I have been having a blast this summer, and the past five summers for that matter, working at the Wenatchee Forestry Sciences Lab as a field tech.  It has taken me to Idaho, Montana and some of the most beautiful places I know in Washington.  The studies we have been on this year mainly are on the Entiat River, a small river feeding into the Columbia north of Wenatchee.

Hurray for science!

The town I grew up in..

Seeing a place with new eyes is something I believe everyone strives for.  Every day we revisit the spaces in our lives, whether concious or not, because we want to.  The space in my life lately, has been the home I grew up in, the town I spent my childhood in, and the place I have been familiar with since I was 8 years old.  It is very different now, only in the sense that I see it differently.  As with many childhood memories, things are not as big as they once seemed, distances are not so far as they once felt, but every bit or marvel still lies within them, if only because I remember them being so.  When you are young you see everything for how spectacular it is; you take what you have and make it great.  Not because you aren't satisfied with the way it is, but just because you can make that way.

Here's to never growing up.

All of these pictures were taken within a quarter-mile of eachother, which coincidentally are also all about a quarter-mile from my house.

Lately..

It's a complete blessing to be so busy.  But being caught up is another feeling entirely.  Approaching a single second where I feel like I have some of my own time to do personal work has been great lately.  I feel I haven't even scratched the surface of everything I'd like to be doing, but a good reality check and realization that practice makes perfect is good for everyone.

Anyways these are a few things I've seen as of late.

Thanks for seeing them too.
