Kayak Polo... only in Washington...

More and more its confirmed that the Northwest is one of the most interesting places to live.  Sarah and I wanted to catch the sunset at Marine Park in Fairhaven the other night, but a rousing game of about 20 or so people playing Kayak Polo stole my attention.  I love Washington.

I'll be posting the video from it soon..

Sinlahekin

Spent quite a bit of time in the Sinlahekin Wildlife Area, northwest of Tonasket, Wash. this summer, working for the Forest Service.  A beautiful strip of valley canyon, there are quite a few wildlife studies in progress for lynx, snoshoe hares and elk.

can you spot him?

Myrtle Lake

Sarah and I took a quick afternoon hike up Myrtle Lake a couple weeks ago. Even though we got rained on it was still a beautiful walk, and a nice acclimatizer for a future school year in Bellingham...

Omak Stampede

Finally got around to editing some photos from the Omak Stampede in August.  Every year the Suicide Race is a fascinating and dangerous spectacle that I will continue to shoot and hopefully cover more closely in the near future.  Controversial and steeped in Native American tradition, it draws thousands of people every year to the Omak River on warm summer nights for a breakneck race down a mountainside into the cold black water, finishing in the arena.
