Western Sports

Working for the Western Front has been an endless opportunity to practice sports shooting, and one I have thoroughly enjoyed.  These are just a few samples of the great athletes I've been able to watch during the many games I have attended.

Glenn Beck Day

Hundreds of protesters and supporters alike lined the streets of Mt. Vernon Washington Saturday, September 26, 2009 during Mayor Bud Norris' declaration of 'Glenn Beck Day.'  A ceremony dedicated to handing Beck the keys to the city of Mt. Vernon was held at Skagit Valley College's McIntyre Hall where Beck gave a speech in front of a sold out 680 person crowd, reminiscing over the days he spent growing up in the town of 32,000.

West Coast Fight Club Fight Night

Held in the Bellingham Sportsplex on Saturday September 25, The "Round V" Extreme Fight Night featured nine fights in MMA style.  Male and female competitors sweated and bled in what professional UFC fighter and guest Krzysztof "The Polish Experiment" Soszynski called, the beginning of their careers.

N.C.W. Pro West Rodeo

Part of the N.C.W. District Fair in Waterville the Pro West Rodeo features cowboys and cowgirls from all over the Northwest.  With classic events such as calf roping, bulldogging and bull riding, horse races also take place in between rodeo events.  The rodeo finishes each day with the famous pony express race.  Run by mostly native American families, the Pony express race is actually a relay in which riders switch between 3 horses over three laps.  Fast, dangerous and intense are adjectives that do not do justice in describing the race.
