Northwest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center
Tucked near the woods on the Nooksack River in the small Western Washington town of Deming, the Northwest Wildlife Rehabilitation receives and treats hundreds of native wild animals every year. Run entirely by donation, the center operates under lead rehabilitator and lone staffer Stacy Wise. With a team of seasonal interns and volunteers year round, Wise and the people who dedicate their time and lives to the center help save the lives of native wildlife that have been injured, abandoned, are sick, or disoriented. These images are the culmination of several months spent in and around the center, on releases for success stories of animal patients brought in, even some of whom were raised by Wise and the volunteers and interns, to be released as thriving adults. -
Granja Roblealto
Located in the mountains above San Jose, Costa Rica, Granja Roblealto is the largest egg producing poultry farm in the entire country of Costa Rica. And, of the 2.5 million birds in the country, Granja Roblealto produces 85 percent of them. What is especially significant about the poultry farm is that it supports the Roblealto Bible Home, a mission housing children removed from high risk family or living situations. -

The Deming Speedway
In the backwoods of Western Washington, near the town of Deming, a 1/6 mile oval clay track lies nestled against the Nooksack River. The roaring engines of sprint cars can be heard every Friday night from April to September with drivers as young as seven-years-old behind the wheel. Paul and Bev Lemley have owned and operated the Deming Speedway for more than thirty years. They have put their time, money and lives into the sport of sprint car racing, and so has the community of racers they support. -
Rodeo, WA
Few places truly exemplify the diversity of Washington like the rural rodeos of small towns across the beautiful state. Dozens take place every year, featuring local ranchers, farmers, cowboys and cowgirls from all over the Northwest. Some do it for fun, others do it for the bit of money that will get them to the next one. -
College Life
The duality of a campus life, and a party life are balanced very carefully by some young people. College represents a transitional stage in life that few experience in the context of the world, and one that seems to inhibit certain behaviors. -
